Pestka is a visual identity project for fruit and vegetable stores which sales offer focuses on fresh and organic products. The main goal of the project is to align the visual aspects with the criteria of sustainable consumption which focuses its efforts on reducing waste and pollution in the environment. Pestka's graphic concept is a proposal for identification elements using recycled materials as the basic material of the work. The project is a part of the diploma completed at the PJAIT University.
[PL] Pestka to projekt identyfikacji wizualnej dla sklepów owocowo-warzywnych, których oferta sprzedażowa skupia się na świeżych i ekologicznych produktach. Głównym celem projektu jest dostosowanie aspektów wizualnych do kryteriów zrównoważonej konsumpcji, która koncentruje swe działania na redukcji odpadów i zanieczyszczeń w środowisku naturalnym. Koncept graficzny Pestka jest propozycją elementów identyfikacji wykorzystujących materiały recyklingowe jako podstawowe tworzywo pracy. Projekt jest częścią dyplomu zrealizowanego na uczelni PJATK.
The logotype is a combination of three elements: a fruit with leaves, the letter p, and a seed (pestka in Polish). The shape of the logo was drawn on a grid and a module for vegetable pictograms. The logotype is a 1/4 module size so it can be connected to other pictograms.
The meaning of the name Pestka is ambiguous. The first meaning, a subjective one, refers to a seed as a by-product of consuming vegetables. There are parts of vegetables that we treat as waste and the seeds contained in fruits are usually the inedible part that we throw in trash. The second meaning figuratively refers to the Polish saying: "Proste jak pestka" meaning something that doesn't require much effort. The name is meant to suggest that the store is an accessible and easy experience for everyone.
[PL] Logotyp jest połączeniem trzech elementów: owocu z liśćmi, litery p i pestki. Kształt znaku został wyrysowany na siatce i module dla warzywnych piktogramów. Logotyp ma rozmiar 1/4 modułu, dzięki czemu można go komponować z innymi piktogramami.
Znaczenie nazwy Pestka jest dwuznaczne. Jedno, podmiotowe, dotyczy pestki jako produktu ubocznego konsumowania jarzyn. Są części warzyw, które traktujemy jako odpady, a nasiona zawarte w owocach stanowią zazwyczaj niejadalną część, którą wyrzucamy do kosza. Drugie, przenośnie dotyczy powiedzenia „Proste jak pestka” oznaczające coś nie wymagające dużo wysiłku. Nazwa ma sugerować, że sklep jest dostępnym i łatwym doświadczeniem dla każdego.
All Round Gothic is a typeface inspired by the classic sans serif typefaces. Its form corresponds with the shapes and the geometry of pictograms. The accompanying typeface, used for texts, is the sans serif Lato.
[PL] All Round Gothic to krój inspirowany klasycznymi, bezszeryfowymi krojami. Jego forma odpowiada kształtom i geometrii piktogramów. Krojem towarzyszącym, stosowanym do tekstów, jest bezszeryfowe Lato.
The main colors - green and yellow - refer to plants and their flowers. They are identified with something natural, vibrant and organic. Complementary colors are beige and three colors used for the representations corresponding to the seasons.
[PL] Główne kolory - zieleń i żółć - odwołują się do roślin i ich kwiatostanów. Są utożsamiane z czymś naturalnym, żywym i organicznym. Uzupełniające kolory to beż oraz trzy barwy do przedstawień sezonowych odpowiadające porom roku.
The basis of identification is the pictograms of vegetables and fruits. They depict characteristic and popular vegetables and fruits in Poland. The pictograms are created on a 17 by 17 module grid, each consisting of a certain number of modules or fragments thereof. The pictograms have different sizes referring to the actual size of vegetables and fruits.
[PL] Podstawą identyfikacji są piktogramy warzyw i owoców. Przedstawiają one charakterystyczne i popularne warzywa i owoce w Polsce. Piktogramy są stworzone na siatce o module 17 na 17. Każdy z nich składa się z określonej liczby modułów lub jego fragmentów. Mają one różne rozmiary nawiązujące do rzeczywistej wielkości warzyw i owoców.
